Important Dates: Winter Break December 20th - January 4th    TO SUPPORT LEARNING: Sing together; sing often; sing to inspire joy. Learning Intentions:  -I can  distinguish voice sounds; differentiate singing from speaking voice -I can recognize 'like' and 'unlike' phrases / patterns; identify repetition and contrast -I can sing with expression; articulation (legato and staccato) and range of dynamics (incorporate crescendo and diminuendo) -I can respond to beat through action and simple body percussion -I can use pitch awareness for singing; extend vocal development to include phrasing, enunciation and expression Students participated in holiday singalong sessions to experience singing as a school community. UPCOMING DATES Performing Arts Club @ Lunch -  Thursday, December 18th  Caroling in Gym Monday through Friday: 8:50 - 9:20 TO SUPPORT LEARNING WHILE SWIRLING AROUND WITH KIDS: Sing together; sing often; sing to inspire joy. Learning Intentions for ALL this week:  -I can  play a steady beat using rhythm instruments; I can play simple rhythm patterns (bordun) to accompany melody. -I can accompany singing with body percussion including (beat and rhythm patterns) and transfer to instruments -I can recognize 'like' and 'unlike' phrases; identify repetition and contrast -I can sing with expression; articulation (legato and staccato) and range of dynamics (incorporate crescendo and diminuendo) -I can use a variety of instruments to create harmony; I can use pitched instruments to build chords   Students worked together in preparation for concert performances this week. December 1 - 5 (Music Week 10)

  UPCOMING DATES Performing Arts Club @ Lunch - Wednesday , December 8th AND Wednesday, December 10th  Winter Concert -  Thursday, December 11th  (daytime performance 10 am, evening perfomance 6 pm) CONCERT INFORMATION Students are working with excellent energy as they prepare pieces for our Once Upon a Snowman show on December 11th. Students will perform at 10 am (during the school day) and 6 pm in the evening. For the evening performance, students can begin arriving in classrooms at 5:40 pm to put away coats and to get organized for a prompt 6:00 pm start. Students in the Performing Arts group may put their things away and head straight to the Music Room. Please note that in order to put on a concert that includes everyone, there will be capacity challenges. We are asking each family to limit their attendance to immediate family as a maximum as far as this is possible. Family members may also attend with the student audience during the day, if they wish.
